1st day

Yesterday, I after really tired at about 6.30 and fell asleep on my yoga mat. I woke up about 30-40min later, opened up my bed and tucked myself in. I woke up at about 1.30am. I quietly washed myself not to wake up my roommate and myself a cup of soup. I felt eating more therefore I slipped into the corner store and bought a fresh loaf of two small baguettes. As I was walking back I thought why not pick up trash.

I have been wanting to do this for a while but due to hold and, perhaps, because I did not want to be seen I was putting this off. In the cover of pitch midnight I found courage to go trash picking. To keep myself warm I put a pair of jeans over my sports pants. I grabbed a plastic bag and walked toward Broadway from my apartment door. I picked up bottles with frozen water inside, half open coffee cups and torn newspapers. My bag was full by the time I reached Broadway. I threw the full bag into a public dustbin.

I came home. I loved cleaning up. I loved it that I was doing some good that will benefit many people and make the neighborhood look better. I decided to go for another walk. This time I made it down Broadway to 92nd street and down to West End Ave. I filled up the bag mostly with abandoned construction bricks or papers.

I would like to do this daily neighborhood cleanup in the early mornings. I am doing this with God in mind and in service of him, to keep his kingdom clean. I hope to wake up early tomorrow to repeat this.

As I was walking I saw people lining up at the door to Equinox, waiting for the fitness club to open. I wondered if the people would like to do exercise why don't they also go picking trash but who am I to judge or make recommendations given that I just started doing this today :) Maybe seeing me cleaning up they will start using their energy for a clean up.
